Retirement Community

What is Independent Living?

For those who are age 55 and older, the independent living retirement community offers maintenance-free living in a community setting. No medical care is included for those in independent living. Assistance may be provided at an additional cost through a variety of support services, such as home care.

Life can be worry free in an independent living community, as maintenance is provided. No more trying to mow the grass, shove the snow, or deal with the headache of an appliance breaking down.

A full social calendar is available with activities to take part in. Bistro-style dining is available on campus with delicious made-to-order grill options.

Please note: At Snyder Village, the terms “Retirement Community” and “Independent Living” are used interchangeably. The Retirement Community is the independent living option at Snyder Village.

Independent Living at Snyder Village

As the largest part of the Snyder Village, the Snyder Village Retirement Community spans the 40+-acre campus in Metamora, IL. Individuals and couples who are age 55 and older and seeking to live independently (without medical assistance) may choose an apartment or cottage in the Retirement Community.

With 170 cottages (duplexes) on campus, there is a style and floor plan to fit every taste. Cottages range in size from 900-1800 square feet. Most cottages are two bedroom and may include features such as a sunroom, extra bathroom, and interior upgrades. Cottages are purchased, as opposed to having a monthly rental fee, and new residents may customize the cottage to their liking. The cottages are perfect for a couple or an individual wanting a bit more of their own living space.

Another living option available in the Retirement Community is the 40 apartments. Apartments feature one bedroom, a kitchenette, living room, and full bathroom. The proximity to the community activities, laundry, chapel services, bistro, and social opportunities are an appeal to many. Apartments in the Retirement Community are purchased, as opposed to having a monthly rental fee.

A monthly service fee for the Retirement Community apartments and cottages cover the cost of all the home maintenance, activities, appliance maintenance, and more. Click here to lean more. (Worry Free Living page)
