SNYDER VILLAGE GROUND-BREAKING

SNYDER VILLAGE GROUND-BREAKING
LAUNCHES START OF BUILDING PROJECT
TO BRING MORE CHOICES TO RESIDENTS

METAMORA, IL — Snyder Village will break ground Thursday, June 7, at 1 pm to launch a building enhancement project that will bring more choices and conveniences to residents. The official groundbreaking will include light refreshments, and the public is invited to the event near the Health Center at 1200 E. Partridge, Metamora.

This $2.25 million project is expected to take nine months to complete. Funding for the project comes from a capital campaign and company reserves. It includes the additions of individual dining areas on three halls of the health center. Once complete, residents of those halls will enjoy dining service with diverse menu and grill items in addition to the regularly scheduled daily menu. This new bistro-style dining provides residents more choices to fit their tastes and appetite. This means residents can select from a wider variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and sides.

“’Bistro-style dining’ is more of a café or restaurant style of dining room,” says Keith Swartzentruber, executive director of Snyder Village. “The best part of a bistro is that our residents have more good choices at mealtime, and the additional dining areas also create more opportunities for families to join us for meals.”

The second feature of this project is the addition of a new room exclusively for daily activities and resident interaction and socialization for Memory Care residents in Hall 2 of the Health Center.

This extensive project also includes remodeling the two current Health Center dining rooms and creating new office space, a staff lunch room, a dedicated activities room, and a “community area” for residents. This community area will allow residents to socialize with one another as well as meet with visiting family and friends.

“This building project is going to be a more efficient use of our space and staff time, and the ultimate winners are our residents. For years now, residents in the Health Center have used the dining rooms for both mealtimes as well as for most of our activities and entertainment. That means our staff spends lots of time each day with room set-up and arrangement to transition it from a dining room to a craft room or bingo hall and back to a dining area for the next meal,” Swartzentruber says.

Retirement Community residents will also benefit from the renovations with the expansion of their dining menu to include grill items and the bistro-style menu choices, in addition to the two daily entrees. Those who live independently in the retirement community may dine in the “Community Room” which offers daily meals during lunch and dinner hours. Once the renovation is complete, residents can choose from a wider variety of items, including grilled items, sandwiches, wraps, salads and sides.

Snyder Village celebrates its 30th anniversary of providing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others in a loving, dignified and Christian atmosphere.
